Here, BASF operates the largest production facilities in the world for ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, caffeine and theophylline. Moreover, approximately 30 chemically different active ingredients and highly refined intermediates are manufactured in multi-product installations, both for the generic pharmaceuticals market as well as those that are tailor-made to specific customer requirements (custom synthesis).
