The BASF concept: Create your own colors

The BASF concept is as easy as it is efficient, surpassing the typical advantages of a normal coating system.

A combination of globally approved color pigments and the BASF polymer Kollicoat IR via the Xfast® process gives granules that add a new dimension in terms of high-speed dispersion and easy handling. Kollicoat IR’s renowned low viscosity enables significantly higher concentrations of solids.

This cuts processing time by 30-40%, thereby lowering costs, increasing productivity and sparing the environment.

A combination of 7 base colors in the right proportions with water added opens up a large color spectrum. The systems create attractive looking tablets that help to avoid misdosing, increase patient compliance and strengthen the tablet’s brand image.

And that’s not all: The new concept has even more to offer to formulators. It makes inter-site exchange easier and reduces the complexity of logistics and purchasing processes:

• Sharing formulations between sites is fast and easy.
• Combining the base colors directly at each site means color samples are available immediately for application to tablets.
• Though combining the base colors gives access to hundreds of shades, you only need to order and store a maximum of 7 base colors.
• Savings on control of starting materials, because batches are significantly larger than with standard coating systems.
